Абстракт: The current edition of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) focuses on global sustainable development efforts and covers the period from 2016 to 2030. Since 2019 the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has been aligning its standards to the 17 UN SDGs. In December 2023 ISO published the first edition of the international standard on Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AI MS). The technical progress known as Industry 4.0 and the emerging Industry 5.0 trends make AI a valuable asset to any organization’s management system. This recent development brings along not only desirable benefits and opportunities to integrate AI in the planning, implementation, control and improvement of operations. It also introduces uncertainty and risks to the processes of the MS. To address those risks and opportunities, and to manage the innovation processes organizations can use the guidelines for contributing to the UN SDGs. They are published in September 2024 by ISO as the Publicly Available Specification ISO/UNDP PAS 53002:2024. The purpose of this paper is to provide a roadmap for organizations of any size and industry sector on how to integrate AI and UN SDGs in the processes of their management systems.

Абстракт: Organizational management systems cover various aspects such as quality, environment, occupational health and safety, information security, innovations, and recently – artificial intelligence. The artificial intelligence management systems are based on the international standard ISO/IEC 42001:2023 and organizations can be certified if they meet its requirements. Auditing management systems is implemented in accordance with the guidelines of ISO 19011:2018, and the bodies providing audit and certification of management systems have to satisfy the requirements of ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015. The fourth edition of ISO 19011 is expected to be published in 2025, as well as the first edition of an entirely new standard that focuses on the bodies providing audit and certification of artificial intelligence management systems. This paper presents the expected directions of change in auditing artificial intelligence management systems.

Абстракт: The paper presents important standards that need to be considered by educational organizations when auditing their quality management systems. Traditionally, these quality management systems are based on ISO 9001, and are audited based on ISO 19011. Starting in 2018, a new standard - ISO 21001 provides requirements and guidance for the management systems of educational organizations, including universities. In 2025 all of the three standards mentioned above are undergoing changes that will affect the way educational quality management systems are developed, implemented, audited, and improved.

Абстракт: The current state of ISO 9001-based quality management systems is intertwined with the updates of Annex SL, the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), and more recently – the effect of climate action changes. In December 2023, ISO published the standard ISO/IEC 42001:2023 “Information Technology — Artificial Intelligence — Management System”. This presents itself as an actionable opportunity for organisations around the world to enhance their existing management systems. The drive for innovations and the risk appetite of organisations shall be balanced by the ethical and responsible use of AI to build trust in AI applications. This paper presents a comparative analysis and suggests an approach to integrate the best practices established in the proven ISO 9001 standard with the brand-new AI management system standard. The threat of being hampered by the potential societal challenges provoked by late and insufficient AI integration in their management systems is very real. To stay afloat and, more importantly, to prosper organisations need to act and adapt to these impactful game-changing trends.

Абстракт: The Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle is a keystone feature of the structure of any ISO management system standard (MSS). The most popular MSS - ISO 9001:2015 with requirements for a quality management system focuses on the PDCA cycle in its section devoted to the process approach which is also one of the seven quality management principles. In September 2024, ISO published the first edition of ISO 56001 - the standard with requirements for an innovation management system. The structure of ISO 56001 from Clause 6 to Clause 10 is aligned with the steps of the PDCA cycle at the system level. Surprisingly, Clauses 4 and 5 which contain requirements for the innovation management system and leadership are not explicitly mentioned. The purpose of this paper is to present a method for analyzing and uncovering the steps of the PDCA cycle at the clause/process level, and further on – at the activity level. The work preceding the drafting of this paper involved an in-depth analysis of the core text of ISO 56001:2024 and using previous research on ISO 56002:2019 as a guide to determine the steps of the PDCA cycle. The results will facilitate managers in enhancing their integrated management systems with elements of innovation management.

Абстракт: Many changes in the automotive industry have happened since 2008 when the second edition of the APQP and Control Plan Reference Manual was published. In March 2024, the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) published the first standalone edition of the Control Plan Reference Manual. This paper presents the main changes in the structure and content of the two Reference Manuals. It highlights focus items that need to be considered by automotive producers in the transition process. Some lessons learned from early adopters are shared and they will benefit multiple interested parties in the automotive industry.

Абстракт: The paper presents the use of root cause analysis and lessons learned to analyse to causes for poor innovation management performance. The specific case in focus is the performance of the innovation management system and its sub-system dealing with intellectual property management. This study is based on official data from the Bulgarian Patent Office and more specifically the statistics about patents and utility models. The analysis is made using international standards such as ISO 10009 for quality tools and their application, ISO 56001 with requirements for innovation management systems, and ISO 56005 for intellectual property management.

Абстракт: Among all the cutting processes, the turning process is the most widely spread process currently used in industry. Together with the machine tool, using the movements performed during work piece machining, the process could be adapted to achieve other processes techniques. An example of innovation has been proposed in this study. The authors emphasize a new perspective of using a lathe machine tool by its cutting tool, which after being used in the turning process can be used as a tool for performing a plastic deformation process. This fact will contribute to an increase in the hardness of the processed surface. The device obtained by using the ideas diagram method will enable its use to perform cold plastic deformation with the same cutting tool used in the turning process. The results, materialized by the obtained device, will allow the performance of all necessary movements to ensure the conditions that allow the implementation of the process and to obtain an increase of the surface hardness for a cylindrical workpiece initially subjected to a turning process.
